Steve McAlpine is a Chartered Accountant with considerable practical and training experience. He has been responsible for accountancy training to a variety of organisations, including open courses; ranging from small businesses to major quoted companies.
Steve says “For me, training is about inclusivity. It lets those of us who believe we have information to share, share it with our audiences. For me the best trainers are those that impart information in a way that goes beyond simply providing the participants with new knowledge. I believe the best of us can present new technical knowledge in a memorable way that delegates find they recall on demand as and when required. And sometimes, we can even change the way people do things, to be able to change behaviour is the greatest privilege trainers have. ”
Steve had almost ten years experience as training manager in two medium size firms of Chartered Accountants before becoming a freelance trainer.
As a complement to his training commitments, Steve runs a small audit and accountancy practice. The clients are generally owner managed, and Steve provides them all the routine professional services they require from an accountant.
| OPINION: | McAlpine’s maxim number 1: Everyone should have something named after them, if only a stupid maxim. McAlpine’s maxim number 2: The funniest jokes are always heard when you have just taken a mouthful of beer. |
| LIKE IT: | Malt whisky, cartoons, steam preservation, American Football |
| LOATHE IT: | Intolerance of others, rudeness, broccoli, silly little sticky labels on individual pieces of fruit, not having enough room to list all the things I loathe. |
