John says, "I fell in love with training when teaching students in Oxford, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I did go back to being a practising solicitor for a while, but nothing for me can match the thrill of running a really great training programme."
John studied law at St John’s College, Oxford and qualified as a solicitor in 1988. He started his professional life with the Treasury Solicitor’s Department before moving to the private sector in the early 1990s.
In the mid 1990s he moved to lecturing at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice before moving back to the City. He has worked with the top City law firms as a transactional lawyer and latterly as an in-house training manager.
In recent years, John, took the decision to specialise in skills and management training for professional service firms. His main areas are writing and drafting, negotiation skills, project management and cultural awareness and diversity.
John is married with two children and lives in Belsize Park on the edge of Hampstead Heath. His small son is a little bookworm – just like John was as a child, apparently – whereas the teenager only seems to thrive on playing his electric guitar at full volume and head-banging. John hates golf.
| OPINION: | Be true to yourself – try to be something you’re not and it will inevitably backfire on you. |

| LOATHE IT: | A golf course. |
