Stephanie Barber

Stephanie heads up the financial training team, developing and presenting a wide range of courses. As the head of the technical function for MacIntyre Hudson LLP she has brokered solutions to all kinds of accounting and regulatory problems. Her aim as a trainer is always to put technical issues into a practical context, whether for accountants or lawyers.

Stephanie says "I was talked into accountancy on the grounds that it is about communication and helping clients run a better business; the numbers are just a form of shorthand. Communication fails when you don't speak the language and I see our role as providing a translation service to help our all clients operate more effectively."

Stephanie is the technical and compliance principal for MacIntyre Hudson LLP. She has overall responsibility for quality assurance for the firm's audit work.

Stephanie is an experienced lecturer on audit and financial accounting topics. She is an established presenter or half-yearly accounts update courses to the accountancy profession and provides training and support to a number of firms.

Stephanie presents courses in understanding financial statements and applying them in a legal context to major law firms. She works closely with individual practice areas including corporate, banking, property and tax, to make a clear link between accounting issues and transaction structures and documentation.

Stephanie is currently resting as a dramatic amateur after years of singing, dancing, acting and directing. She has traded her tap shoes for an apron, a compost bin and the chance to read bed time stories to her two daughters.

OPINION: What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.
LIKE IT: Doing the "voices" for a bed time story, sandcastles on a Cornish beach, marmite, squid ink pasta, a good cup of tea, new shoes.
LOATHE IT: Logos on clothing, people who won’t give up their seat on public transport for the elderly or pregnant, hard boiled eggs.
