Accounting & Assurance Services

Where will you look for support on the technical and practical impact of changes in accounting, auditing and company law? The new Practice Assurance regime and International Standard on Quality Control 1 both look for consultation and external review procedures as part of firms’ quality assurance activities.

Helpline: Support on "one off" technical or practical queries. There may be times when you want to double check a technical issue or need a quick answer to an accountancy problem. Our consultants answer questions on a range of financial accounting, auditing or company law matters on a time spent basis. We aim to consider both the practical and technical implications of the issue and to provide you with a written response for your files as evidence that the consultation occurred.

Advisory service: A more detailed problem solving support service for broader client facing issues.

Hot File Review: An independent review of audit files before you sign the audit report where ethical standards say you need one or you want a second opinion for quality control purposes. Hot file reviews involve considering the appropriateness of the planning, the sufficiency and appropriateness of audit evidence obtained and whether or not the conclusions formed are justified by the work documented.

Cold File Review: A review of completed audit files for compliance with your firm's audit procedures, auditing and ethical standards. The cold file review service involves performing a review of a sample of audit files for compliance with the firm's audit procedures, Auditing Standards and Ethical Standards. The sample of files is selected following a discussion with the Audit Compliance Principal and is designed to be a representative sample of the sort of work which your practice undertakes.

Audit compliance review: The audit compliance review builds on the cold file review service by including a review of your procedures in respect of independence, fitness and propriety, continuing professional development, client acceptance and retention procedures, professional indemnity insurance and technical standards.

Practice assurance review: How do you run the non-tax aspects of your practice ~ could they be a source of risk rather than profit? We can provide a review allowing you to assess your strengths and weaknesses.

General Practice Digest: Updates and bulletins on new financial reporting, auditing, company law or professional topics.
